DESCRIPTION:
Program of the Wyss Institute

Guest speaker:
Shyni Varghese
Associate Professor of Engineering
UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering

Dr. Shyni Varghese, Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering, will discuss how reciprocal interactions of cells with their microenvironment are fundamental to multiple cellular processes necessary for tissue development, homeostasis, and regeneration. Also, Varghese will discuss efforts to delineate the role of the extracellular matrix on cellular responses relevant to tissue repair, stem cell differentiation, and disease progression.
