DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>BWH Multidisciplinary Transplant Ethics Seminar<br><br>Guest speaker:</strong><br><em><strong>Jacob Lavee, MD</strong></em><br>Director of the Heart Transplantation Unit, Sheba Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel</p><p><em>Dr. Lavee is the Director of the Heart Transplantation Unit and Deputy Director of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel’s largest medical center, affiliated with the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine.  Dr. Lavee established Sheba’s Heart Transplant Unit in 1991, which, under his leadership, developed into Israel’s largest cardiac transplant program. Dr. Lavee spearheaded the formulation of the new Israeli Organ Transplantation Law.  With priority given to those who are willing to donate, he implemented an ethical paradigm that resulted in a significant increase of organ donation in Israel.  Dr. Lavee served as  President of the Israel Transplantation Society and is a Board Member of the Declaration of Istanbul Custodian Group; he is also a member of the Ethics Committee of the Transplantation Society (TTS) and an Advisory Board Member of Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting NGO.</em></p><p align="center">Lunch will be served</p><p align="center">Please <strong>RSVP</strong> to Ramya Sampath at <a href="mailto:rsampath@partners.org">rsampath@partners.org</a></p>
