SUMMARY:Diverse Applications of CRISPR
DESCRIPTION:
Guest speakers:
Feng Zhang
Assistant Professor
Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences
McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT

Lucian Marraffini
Assistant Professor
Laboratory of Bacteriology
The Rockefeller University

Moderator: Ernesto Andrianantoandro, Editor, Trends in Biotechnology

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR) technology, a microbial defense system, has been developed based on its remarkable ability to bring the endonuclease Cas9 to specific locations within complex genomes by a short RNA, to precisely edit the genome, to build toolkits for synthetic biology, and to monitor DNA in live cells. Over the last two years, over 650 articles have been published on CRISPR, from creating designer animals with a specific trait or disease via gene editing, to applications in cells and zygotes including: gene knock-in, reversible knockdown, gene activation and gene repression. Furthermore, the diverse applications for therapeutics in human disease including HIV, malaria, cancer, muscular dystrophy, and more, are astounding. In this webinar, we’ll explore the breadth of CRISPR/Cas9 applications brought about by this revolution in genome engineering.

Click here to register for this free webinar.
