DESCRIPTION:<p>Guest speaker:<br>Nicholas Geisse, PhD<br>Applications Scientist<br>Oxford Instruments Asylum Research, Inc.</p><p>AFM has improved drastically over the past few years for higher resolution imaging of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, as well as for cell and molecular mechanics. For cell mechanics, AFMs are also used as mechanical probes, assessing the  mechanical properties of cells, tissues, and their microenvironments.This lecture will provide an overview of how atomic force microscopy can be used for these emerging applications.
