HSCI Retreat

Annual Harvard Stem Cell Institute Retreat for its research and administrative community

Program is offered free of charge to all registered members of the HSCI research and administrative community.  

A Harvard University shuttle bus will be available at two locations, Vanderbilt Hall (Longwood) and 165 Cambridge St. (MGH), to ferry participants to and from the Retreat.  The morning pick up time is 7:30 a.m. and the evening return trip is at 6:00 p.m. Free, limited parking will also be available in the Spangler Lot.

Provisional schedule of events: 

8:00 – 9:00 a.m.               Registration and poster set up

9:00 – 9:10 a.m.               Introductory remarks by Brock Reeve,
                                        HSCI 
 Executive Director

9:10 – 10:00 a.m.             Keynote Address:  Ihor Lemischka, PhD,
                                        Mt.
Sinai School of Medicine

10:00 – 10:30 a.m.            Break ~ walk to view ‘First Science’ construction site on
                                         Western Ave.

10:30 – noon                   Presentations by new PI’s (Arlotta, Burns, Meissner, Rossi,Woolf, Wu)

Noon – 1:00 p.m.              Barbecue lunch

1:00 – 3:00 p.m.               Presentations by 2006 Seed Grant recipients 
                                        (Bernstein, Blackwell, Breault, Carroll, Hochedlinger, 
                                       
Lin, Wang, Xiong)

3:00 – 4:30 p.m.               Poster session and cocktail reception

4:30 – 5:00 p.m.               “New Models for Collaboration in Science” – Karim 
                                         Lakhani (HBS) and Paul Carlile (BU)

5:00 – 5:30 p.m.               Highlights of progress from selected disease programs –
                                        Blood, Cardiovascular, Diabetes - David Scadden     

5:30 – 5:45 p.m.               Acknowledgment of Inter-lab presenters for ’07-’08 by Keith
                                        Blackwell

                                      Vision and outlook for HSCI by David Scadden

                                      Issue of scientific challenges by David Scadden
