Research Technician II (lab manager)
Join a team of accomplished professionals at the Center for Regenerative Medicine at Massachusetts Hospital and Harvard Stem Cell Institute consisting of research programs in basic and translational biomedical sciences.
Full-time (2 year minimum requirement)
Minimum degree and required skills:
Undergraduate college degree required; Masters desired.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong technical and organizational skills; attention to detail.
Ability to perform as a team member.
Full time lab experience preferred.
Experience in cell biology and tissue culture techniques.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Duties
Lab responsibilities:
-Managing lab operations: ordering, organizing and keeping adequate stocks of general use consumables.
-Choosing, ordering and maintaining equipment.
-Assessing the needs of the lab or lab members to keep research on track and moving forward.
-Maintaining laboratory compliance with regulatory departments and governmental agencies and acting as the lab safety officer are both expected.
-Oversee and keep the animal protocol current and in compliance with IACUC.
-Maintain and organize an up to date catalog of the biological lab stocks (cell lines, plasmids, antibodies, etc.) and see to their distribution in the case of requests.
Bench responsibilities:
-Perform tissue culture work using modern techniques of stem cell biology.
Administrative:
-Coordinate summer interns
-Organize lab outings, retreats, and other events.
