Job Title:  Research Technician.  Start date is March 2012. Commitment is for 1 ½ years.

Looking for a highly motivated individual to join a physician-scientist working on developing small-molecule inhibitors against the tumor microenvironment. This position is ideal for candidates interested in the interface of cancer biology and chemical biology and is a unique opportunity for scientific growth, interacting in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment and for training in a variety of experimental approaches. 
 
Employing Department and Institution: Center for Regenerative Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital.

Minimum degree and field of knowledge:  B.S./B.A. in Cell Biology or Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience with cell culture is required.

Duties:
The candidate will perform research activities both at the Broad Institute and the Massachusetts General Hospital. The candidate is expected to independently carry out the daily activities of the laboratory, which include:
•    Responsibilities for a wide range of techniques including cell culture, lentiviral RNA interference work, small-molecule dose-response experiments, molecular biology, RNA work, and microscopy. 
•    Performing small and medium scale small-molecule screens.
•    Assisting lab personnel with routine experiments.
•    Documenting, compiling, and analyzing information obtained from laboratory experiments.
•    Development of new experimental techniques and assays.
•    Maintain compliance with general safety, biohazard and chemical safety guidelines. 
•    Assisting with purchasing, inventories and maintenance of supplies, reagents and stock solutions.

Required Skills:
•    Prior experience with mammalian cell culture is necessary.
•    Prior experience with mouse-work is considered a strength.
•    Must be highly motivated and organized, prudent in time management and capable of juggling multiple tasks and competing priorities. 
•    Quick to learn new skills on the job and work independently.
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
•    Critical thinking skills and attention to detail are required.
