Research Assistant I or II
This position is located within a large, multinational Human Stem Cell Biology Research Program at Children’s Hospital Boston and calls for a responsible, conscientious, and detail- oriented individual. The successful candidate must be a quick learner who enjoys meeting new people and acquiring new skills. In addition to providing technical research support to lab members, the position may entail some managerial responsibilities.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
• Maintenance of a large mouse colony including genotyping of animals
• Maintenance of embryonic and induced- pluripotent stem cell cultures
• Involves several types of cellular analysis including: immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, DNA / RNA isolation, PCR, and molecular biology techniques.
• Operation of instruments such as flow cytometer, automated fluorescence microscope.
• Initiation and Management of orders and inventory, tracking supplies and expenditures for a small sub-group within the laboratory.
• Maintenance of equipment, infrastructure, and space allocation.
• Ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health, safety and animal regulations.
• Generation of stock reagents.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferable B.S.
• 1-2 years experience in a laboratory setting (excellent sterile technique and cell culture experience preferred)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
