Research Assistant (I)
Duties And Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated research assistant to be part of a group that studies Type 1 Diabetes and stem cell biology. The position will assist in the identification of chemical compounds allowing differentiation of pluripotent stem cell lines to pancreatic beta cells. Research Assistant will help establish differentiation conditions to identify small molecules beneficial for directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells. Duties will include maintenance and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells, routine molecular biology procedures (DNA extraction, PCR), and fluorescence based assays such as FACS and immunofluorescence analysis. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to independently operate a FACS machine and assist in high through put screening procedures. This is a one-year grant funded term position with the possibility for extension based on availability of funding.
Basic Qualifications
Laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology is required.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in life sciences preferred. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience). Excellent organizational, presentation, and communication skills are required. Attention to detail and independence essential.
