Research Assistant (I)
Duties And Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of a group that studies Type 1 Diabetes and stem cell biology. Under supervision of a postdoctoral mentor, the position will focus on establishing functional assays and culture systems for epithelial progenitor/stem cells. We are looking for a person with great interest in stem cell biology and immunology who will establish a platform to assess the potential of embryonic stem cell derived, and from mouse isolated, epithelial cell progenitor/stem cells. The successful candidate will establish transplantation assays into mouse models and cell culture conditions to assess functionality as well as potential of the cell population of interest. Evaluation of the experiments will be conducted by FACS analysis, immunofluorescence analysis and other immunological assays. This is a one-year grant funded term position with the possibility for extension based on availability of funding.
Basic Qualifications
Laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology is required.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in life sciences preferred. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience). Attention to detail and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. Previous experience with mouse models and/or stem cell culture is desirable.
