Postdoctoral Position - Osteoblasts and the hematopoietic stem cell niche
A postdoctoral research position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Joy Wu to study the role of osteoblasts in the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) niche.
The laboratory is studying the contributions of cells of the osteoblast lineage to bone marrow hematopoietic niches. Osteoblasts are an important component of the HSC niche, and we have now found that cells of the osteoblast lineage also regulate B cell development (PNAS 2008, 105:16976), a process that is dependent upon signaling downstream of the heterotrimeric G protein subunit Gsalpha.
The successful candidate must have an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and should have demonstrated experience with genetic mouse models, tissue culture, flow cytometry, and molecular cloning. Prior experience with assays of HSC content and function is preferred. The applicant must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
