Postdoctoral Position
Post Doctoral Position in self-renewal and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells
A jointly-appointed post doctoral position is available in the laboratories of Dr. John Luckey, M.D., Ph.D., (Brigham and Women's/Harvard Medical School) and Jarrod Marto, Ph.D. (Dana-Farber/Harvard Medical School) to dissect key molecular mechanisms that regulate fate decisions in mesenchymal stem cells. The two laboratories have distinct scientific expertise in immunology, stem cell biology, analytical mass spectrometry, and proteomics, and have created this unique position to build on their overlapping scientific interests. The research goals designed for this position have direct relevance to stem cell biology, tissue engineering, and human disease.
Minimum requirements for this position include a Ph.D., preferably in one of the physical sciences, and demonstrated accomplishments in mass spectrometry research, particularly in the area of quantitative proteomics analyses. Experience in molecular or cell biology is preferred but not required. This position is intended for mature and exceptional candidates who have a strong desire to work in a multidisciplinary environment and expand their expertise in molecular and cellular biology as well as mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will participate directly and significantly in both laboratories. Specific research activities will include mesenchymal stem cell purification and culture from mouse and human sources, generation of various molecular biology constructs including lentiviral RNAi knock-down vectors, targeted enrichment of protein and post-translational modification classes, and quantitative mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists in the Blais Proteomics Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Center for Human Cell Therapy at the CBR Institute for Biomedical Research, Harvard Medical School.
Interested candidates should submit electronic copy of their curriculum vitae, along with complete contact information for at least three references, and a cover letter describing their past research experience, career goals and a statement of future research interests to:
