Building Biotech Backward

The 4th Massachusetts Life Sciences Innovation (MALSI) Day is the biggest day for life sciences startups and innovation in the State of Massachusetts. This is a high-energy, hands-on event which brings together scientific leaders and business experts to mingle with innovators, post-docs, professors, entrepreneurs, innovators, and venture capitalists.

Building Biotech Backward: What is in the secret sauce to a successful startup?  We believe the best way is to "build your biotech backwards" and consider how all the issues you will face in your successful company 5-10 years from now influence your ideas today. Our Panel will debate some of the big issues on "building biotech backwards" while brainstorming with your ideas to increase the chance of your startup becoming the next success story.

Join us for the flagship event of life sciences in Massachusetts, jointly and actively put together by all the major organizations that are involved in starting and supporting the life sciences startup ecosystem in the Commonwealth.

Featured Keynotes:
•    Nobel Laureate Sir Richard Roberts, SCO, New England Biolabs - opening keynote
•    Dr. Todd Zion, President and CEO, SmartCells Inc.  - lunch keynote

RESEARCH SHOWCASE - POSTER SESSION
The Big Undiscovered Idea Poster Competition - cash prizes for 3 best posters!
A key goal of the event is an exchange of ideas, to connect the broader scientific community with those working in finance and policy.  The earliest insight can, in time, foster an entire industry.
Our poster session will showcase fundamental advances in research so they can be seen by a broader audience, to help set the compass for where the industry could go in the future.
If your lab or yet unfunded company has notable discoveries or new grant awards that you want to publicize to the Massachusetts research and business communities please download the application to exhibit a poster and submit it to jgoldberg@umassp.edu by May 17, 2011.
