Mentors Sought For HSCI Summer Internship Program
For the sixth consecutive year, HSCI will offer 10 weeks of funded, hands-on, supervised research to a select group of talented undergraduates from Harvard and colleges and universities from across the United States and the world. The overall purpose of the HSCI Internship Program is to expose promising young students to practical, hands-on research in cutting-edge stem cell laboratories.
This is an extraordinary experience for the undergraduates, providing them with an opportunity not likely available at their home institutions.
This educational opportunity affords a mentorship experience to motivated HSCI members. As in past years, HSCI will fund 35 slots in participating laboratories to undergraduates from Harvard and colleges and universities across the United States and the world.
As mentor, you would be required to:
- Develop a research project to be accomplished in a 10-week framework
Provide on-going mentorship to this undergraduate during the June-August, 2010 timeframe - Allow and encourage the student to attend a weekly stem cell biology class (Tuesday afternoons) and seminar series (Wednesday mornings)
- Attend the final undergraduate symposium on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 where your intern will present his/her research findings both orally and in poster format
HSCI members, particularly post-docs and tenure-track faculty, are encouraged to apply to host a funded student for summer, 2010.
